COFRA
"Projeto Colina da Fraternidade"

The Projeto Colina da Fraternidade is a social institution without economic purposes which serves by means of wide spread program offers in the area of education (among other things also alphabetization- and informatic courses), as well as in the sectors of sports (among other things also capoeira- and dance courses) and culture (among other things also art- and theater courses) as an important address for the inhabitants of the Favela Morro de Macaco in the district of Vila Isabel. The NGO is located in an old hospital and the fact, that a lot of place and rooms are available, led at the end of May 2004 to the creation of a "people's kitchen", which appeals to favela-inhabitants coming from poor and the poorest circumstances. The NGO, founded in October 2002, has made itself a good name in Rio de Janeiro and is supported – besides by private donations - also by the municipality of the town.
Training Period – Social Work
We are looking for pedagogues, psychologists, students from the social-scientific area as well as social workers, who can give support for the everyday live routine and perhaps also can give English lessons.
Training Period – Development of an alternative tourism plan in cooperation with the NGO
The NGO has made it one`s goal to interest foreign tourists for a different kind of Rio vacation: From a distance to sugar loaf and Copacabana should be worked out a program, which – with the main focus on the historical district of Vila Isabel - has in mind culture, music (above all samba) and also sports. An important aspect is the active integration of the population in this plan. The trainee will cooperate, on the one hand, narrowly with the two managers of COFRA and will take care of the elaboration of the trip program, as well as of the decisions of general conditions (choice of adequate hotels, transport possibilities etc). In another step there should be developed a marketing or advertising strategy, which is focused on the alternative travel market in the United States and also Europe, containing the elaboration of illustrating materials (program folders with photos etc).
We are looking for trainees who are qualified in the areas of Marketing and Tourism and possess different experiences in these spheres
Training Period – Marketing
We are looking for trainees who are qualified in the areas Fundraising, Marketing and Public Relations and support the NGO in the aim of working out a publicity brochure, which takes in consideration possible partnerships with private companies and development aid organizations, and is aimed to the United States as well as to Europe.
Training Period – Website Configuration
We are looking for creative computer experts and web designers who are able to develop a homepage. A computer workplace with Internet access is given by COFRA.
All trainees should have a good knowledge of Portuguese which can be achieved, however, also in an intensive language course on site in Rio de Janeiro.
