Christ

Be ready to discover Rio de Janeiro! Just like the famous statue of Christ does, the city welcomes their visitors from all over the world with open arms: visitors who want to know why Rio is the so called “wonderful city” (“cidade maravilhosa”).

Sugar Loaf

Travelers who want to face the nicest postcard-motives by themselves! Of course we have to take the Sugar Loaf into account, thronging over the entrance into the Guanabara Bay, strongly determining the profile of the city.

Maraca

You will easily recognize that Rio de Janeiro – one of the most frequented trade cities of South America – is one of the most beautiful and most pleasant cities of the world.

Tijuca Forest

The beauties belongs to the nature, where mountains, forests, beaches and the South of the Atlantic Ocean meet each other to settle a unique panorama and spectacle; the Tijuca Forest is for example the worldwide biggest forest inside a city.

Pedra da Gávea

The Pedra da Gávea invites you to take part in adventure sports like hang gliding and sky diving, revealing a wonderful sight over the city and its beaches.

Beaches

On the one hand Rio de Janeiro today is a modern city offering uncounted options for spare time – and business activities (famous beaches like Copacabana and Ipanema, restaurants, cinemas and theatres, sports and music highlights, nightlife).

History

On the other hand Rio was discovered in the year of 1502, shows prints of its past. Buildings from the 16. to the 19. Century is reflecting the history and growth of the city. With the arrival of the Portuguese royal family in the year of 1808, Rio started to bloom and with the declaration of independence of Brazil from Portugal in the year of 1822 Rio was growing even more. During the last years a lot of time and money were spent to restore the historic-cultural heritage, and most of all visitors interested in art and culture can make their cut by taking part in a series of museums and art exhibitions, located in the centre of the town.
But Brazil is most known for its carnival – and the most famous carnival takes place in Rio de Janeiro! The festival of carnival is lasting nearly a week and the carioca value this event even higher than Christmas and new eve. Sometimes also the world championship of soccer is regarded as less important. It is worth to visit the rehearsals of the different samba schools already months ahead; getting addicted to the enthusiasm of the members of the schools itself.
