The Internship

Some options of internship, in diverse professional areas in private companies or ONGs, and in several States of Brazil, are presented so that the candidate chooses the one that interests him the most, inside of his field of work or study, or in another area of preference where he can accumulate knowledge and diverse experiences. The internship contract is made by our team which will be responsible for the internship during the period where you will be working as a trainee and also, offering translators for the meetings, in case that is necessary, keeping direct contact with the responsible for your sector of work with biweekly reports of evaluation and exploitation. We also lead the trainee to his workstation during the first days or until he feels safe. The company who receives you will emit a certificate of professional internship in your idiom of origin, with the support of the Institute.
Our programs are drawn in day-by-day, and evolve according with the necessity, without ever be driven apart of the intention to offer a safe experience, of easy access and unforgettable.

COME TO SERVE AS APPRENTICE WITH US.
WILL BE A PLEASURE TO TAKE CARE OF YOU!

IDM´s Portuguese Course

Listening is one of the best ways to learn Portuguese.
We are pleased to offer a competent language courses (single lessons, pairs, and small groups) for all language levels, for beginners and advanced. The offer is directed at young people and students as language preparations for training periods in Brazilian companies, institutions, authorities and projects, businessmen and tourists.

  • Here in IDM the teachers are graduated and experiments.
  • Our aim in all our classes is to help you use Portuguese more effectively
  • The classrooms are comfortable and well located.
  • We use a variety of materials and techniques which are appropriate to the level of our students. We encourage our students to develop fluency and accuracy in both speaking and writing.
  • We also help you develop your reading and listening skills. Reading and writing are also effective ways of revising language and extending and consolidating the range of your vocabulary.
  • The classes can be individual or in group, and it has four hours of daily classes. Three hours of the class take place in the classroom and one hour is given outside. In these open classes you will face everyday situations like going to a bookstore, talking to an attendant or walking in the Copacabana's sidewalk, observing the Brazilian people habits. We also have a special Friday program: every Friday you will visit one of the sights of the Wonderful City, followed by our teachers!

Our Teachers

Alessandra was born in Rio de Janeiro, she’s a carioca. Her major is Liberal Arts, Portuguese – German. She’s very determined, talkative and extroverted. She likes to teach languages, to meet people and to learn about different cultures as well.

Celimar is baiana (born in Bahia) and has been living in Rio de Janeiro for nine years. She loves the Cidade Maravilhosa – wonderful city. Her major is Liberal Arts, Portuguese – German. She’s calm, kind and teaches in a very sweet way.

Accommodation

You can stay in our host families. You will receive your own room and your laundry will be washed and you will have meals.
The Brazilian breakfast is usually includes fruit, bread, cheese, juices and coffee. The lunch and the dinner includes regional specialties as for example the “national dish Feijoada”, a kind of bean stew with pork to which the Cariocas – how are called the inhabitants of Rio de Janeiro - gladly drink a Caipirinha; a lot of meat and chicken is eaten, sometimes also fish or sea fruit. Against the background that you are “forced” to apply and deepen the new language, the accommodation in a host family is a significant advantage. The stay with a family is often the key to the success and normally you are integrated by your family in the everyday life. In a lot of cases the guest is “adopted” and is invited to all activities (family parties, excursions etc).

Free Time Program

Spend one-week vacation in the wonderful north-east of Brazil!
Escape for one week of the million metropolis of Rio de Janeiro and get to know Maceió. The capital of the northeast federal state Alagoas counts as a confidential tip to restful beach vacation. The trip – at a reasonable price exclusively worked out for the trainees – contains the accommodation in a nice and close to the beach located 3-stars-hotel (including breakfast) as well as different excursions.
Leisure activities
Rio de Janeiro offers numerous leisure options for every taste. The same whether you might visit the local tourism attractions (sugar loaf, Copacabana, Ipanema etc.), think to spend the weekend by one of the dream beaches beyond the town (for instance, in 1650 founded colonial town Paraty or also in the internationally known Buzios), are interested in sport or culture – we discuss you gladly and submit suggestions to you.
Capoeira
Besides regularly taking place meetings with other Americans or European trainees we offer you Capoeira courses and organize the visit of famous samba schools where you receive a lively and colorful impression of the world-famous Brazilian Carnival
